On November 25, “Exploring China through Bamboo Slips”, which is the first large-scale cultural program focused on “bamboo slips”, was officially broadcast at 20:00 on CCTV-1, and “Liye Qin Slips” was the first episode of the program.

The program is a new exploration of the culture by the China Media Group through “Bamboo Slips”, integrating top cultural resources and core literary and artistic forces, and aims to tell the historical wisdom in bamboo Slips to the public.

With the title of the program written by Wei Tianchi, a famous calligrapher, it explores the culture through “on-site exploration plus live-action drama plus cultural interviews”.

Liye Qin Slips are one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in China in the 21st century. In 2002, archaeologists excavated over 38,000 bamboo slips of the Qin Dynasty in an ancient well in Liye Town, Longshan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province.

As the archives of the government departments of the Qin Dynasty with complete and detailed information, Liye Qin Slips fills the gap in historical materials of the Qin Dynasty. The administrative operations and people’s lives can be learnt about in more than 1,100 counties of the Qin Dynasty from these slips, shedding light on the county system of the Qin Dynasty.

Liye Qin Slips provide historical support for the county governance concept that has continued to this day.
